I now have the opportunity to mentor and coach those around me, to help them gain the experience necessary to help them progress.I've been at Orbis for 2 months now. In May I was promoted to a deputy manager in Ty Coryton, I felt this was the right time to take that step (one I always hoped for) and I can honestly say it’s the best thing I ever did. No two days are ever the same and on some of those days you forget its even work! Since then I have worked in several difference positions and departments, I have found my colleagues and managers have supported my progression throughout. The young people are always at the centre of what we do, every day we strive to ensure that they gain as many skills as we can teach and have the best childhood we can enable. But more importantly I have met the best young people who are supported in such an amazing and compassionate way. I started as a support worker nearly eight years ago, in that time I found Ty Coryton to be a lively, caring and fun place to work. All this wouldn’t of been possible without the support and guidance of the team here in Coed Parc, the team are amazing and they all put in such a great effort when working with the lads.ĭeputy Manager – Ty Coryton - During my time within Orbis I have had many opportunities. I have been doing this role for nearly 2 years and love every aspect about it, I’ve nearly finished my level 5 in health and social care and hopefully in the future will progress further to become a manager somewhere, though I do love my roots. I soon progressed and got nominated to head the staff forum in head office which was held monthly and then took a big step applying to be a team leader and successfully getting the job. Within months of moving to Coed Parc my manager promoted me to a key worker, I thrived at the role and loved every minute knowing I was making an impact on a young adult’s life. I worked in Ty Bronllys for 3 months as Coed Parc wasn’t open and was greeted and made to feel part of the team straight away. Julianna Palazzotto (Juju) - Team Leader Coed Parc I joined Orbis in 2015 as a support worker having no care experience and not knowing what to expect. In this role I feel empowered to make a change to the individuals living at The Old Vicarage and create a person centred approach with an accessible environment and opportunities for individuals with Autism. After a year and a half of Support Work I became a Team Leader. Every day as a support worker was unique and I enjoyed being in a team of people that were so dedicated to improving the lives and independence of our Individuals. I absolutely loved the lifestyle, atmosphere and the progressiveness of The Old Vicarage. I had never worked in the care sector before and I came in as a Support Worker.
